Lim Sang-Hee

Kim Kwang-Woog
Abstract
This research study has the objective of examining the in-depth process on the current self-understanding of play therapist through the childhood experiences and understanding of play therapist. The narrative inquiry method of Connely and Clandinin(2000) was used to conduct this research study. The childhood experience of play therapist that participated in this study included `my apathetic mother and my hot-tempered father` and `a childhood during which I was embarrassed to even be alive`, and the childhood understanding of play therapist that participated in this study included `I was held back during the early years of my life`, `thinking back to how sad I was when I was young`, `my path to understanding myself as my childhood went on` and finally `the harmony of my psyche and spirituality, my path to becoming a play therapist`. Based on these results it was confirmed that self-understanding from a young age is a process that continues into adulthood, and that one`s inner self constantly develops and changes through this process. In addition it was confirmed that the processes of self-understanding and analysis that occur during childhood are absolutely essential processes for play therapist to experience.
